Is Mercedes-Benz the Best Employer in Poland in 2025?

In Poland Mercedes-Benz’s presence centers on the state-of-the-art Jawor engine and battery plant, a CO₂-neutral facility opened in 2016 employing about 1,400 people. This large, high-tech campus has won praise. Forbes Polska ranked Mercedes-Benz #1 among automotive-sector employers in its 2021 survey, and the company notes its “friendly business culture” and investment in ESG initiatives. Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Polska (MBMPL) is a major local employer and, together with national sales and finance operations, represents the brand’s footprint in Poland.

The question is whether its overall employer reputation in 2025 truly puts it at the top of Polish companies as the best employer in Poland.

Student Rankings: Universum Most Attractive Employers

For engineering and technical students, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Polska (MBMPL) has consistently scored very high. In Universum’s 2022, 2023, and 2024 Poland survey of ~13,000+ students, MBMPL or Mercedes-Benz Group was named the most attractive employer among engineering students.

Then, just last year, MBMPL draw back by a spot coming in #2 place still in the engineering category, with students associating top attributes such as  “good reference for future career, professional training and development,” and “challenging work with the auto brand.”

Universum’s research, covering seven academic fields, shows that young engineers in Poland particularly admire the cutting-edge technology and green credentials of the Jawor factory. In fact, MBMPL also won Universum’s engineering category in 2020. Such student polls suggest that among technical career-seekers, Mercedes-Benz is indeed a top choice.

Mercedes-Benz’s Employee Satisfaction and Awards

Internal and public reviews paint a similarly positive picture. Mercedes-Benz Group (global) holds a 4.1/5 rating on Glassdoor (84% of reviewers would recommend it to a friend), reflecting generally strong satisfaction with pay, benefits and work-life balance.

Locally, MBMPL offers perks like subsidized meals, bonuses and flexible schedules; employee posts often note the brand’s “friendly atmosphere” and professional development programs. The company also touts external accolades: for example, Manpower Polska named MBMPL a “Friendly Place of Work 2022”, praising its caring culture and “extremely committed crew,” calling the factory “one of the best employers in the industry.”

These recognitions (alongside Universum) underscore how, especially for blue-collar and technical staff, Mercedes-Benz is viewed as an excellent workplace.

At the same time, broader surveys suggest MBMPL’s high marks are mostly within its niche. In the Forbes/Statista 2023 “Best Employers in Poland” ranking, Mercedes-Benz Group (Poland) finished 33rd overall, third in the automotive sector (behind BMW and Bosch). This respectable position means it is well-regarded, but not the single leader in the country.

By 2024, Forbes/Statista again highlighted large multinationals (Google, Microsoft, etc.) at the top of overall employer ratings. Thus, while Mercedes-Benz is often the top choice among engineering students and auto-industry circles, it is not necessarily #1 across all industries.

Industry Context and How Mercedes-Benz Compares

Other major auto employers also dominate public surveys. In Randstad’s 2024 national poll of attractive employers (based on 6,800 respondents), four automotive companies made the top ten. Volvo Poland led as the most attractive overall, with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland and Volkswagen Poznań also high on the list.

By this year, Randstad’s top-ranked employers were tech, retail and energy firms; Volvo (Poland) still ranked third and Toyota sixth. Mercedes-Benz did not feature in the Randstad top ten of either year, suggesting that in general public perception it is overshadowed by these peers. In short, MBMPL’s strong internal reputation has not translated into leading the country-wide employer-brand surveys.

That said, in its own sector Mercedes-Benz remains highly competitive. It faces stiff competition from Toyota, Volkswagen, Stellantis and others for engineering talent.

But compared to local auto rivals it holds its own: Forbes/Statista listed Mercedes-Benz as the 3rd place auto-sector employer in 2023, and Universum polling shows it far above most non-tech firms for student appeal. The company’s investments in sustainability and worker support, often cited by employees, help it remain a preferred choice for many engineers and production specialists.

A Benchmark Employer in Automotive, Short of the Overall Crown

Overall, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland is clearly among the country’s most respected employers in automotive and technical fields. However, when broad-based employer rankings and public surveys are considered, several other Polish and global companies rank higher.

Thus, while MBMPL may not be universally “the best employer” across all sectors in Poland, it is certainly one of the best in the automotive and engineering category for 2025.
